 Texas Heart Institute at St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital, Houston.

The Texas Heart Institute (THI) Professional Staff consists of more than 160 cardiovascular surgeons, cardiologists, cardiovascular anesthesiologists, cardiovascular pathologists, scientists, and specialists in related disciplines who are committed to the educational and research missions of THI. These physicians and scientists, who have trained at the nation's best medical schools, may also hold academic appointments at The University of Texas Medical School at Houston and Baylor College of Medicine.

The Institute's affiliations with Baylor College of Medicine, Texas A&M University and The University of Texas Medical School at Houston provide opportunities for collaborative research and allow physicians in training to gain additional experience at The University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center.

The Texas Heart Institute was founded by Dr. Denton A. Cooley in 1962. Its location in and affiliations with St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital and Texas Children's Hospital assured that all age groups would be treated and freed the Institute of the burden of financing a health care facility.
