November 2011—Project Heart Honored in Summer/Fall 2011 Web Health Awards Competition
The
Project Heart website was selected as a winner in the 13th annual
Web Health Awards program. This competition—held twice each year: Winter/Spring and Summer/Fall—recognizes the nation's best digital health resources.
Project Heart (and
Proyecto Corazón) received a Merit Award for Web-based Resource/Tool.
Our winning entry was chosen from nearly 400 entries judged by a panel of distinguished experts in digital health media. The Web Health Awards program is organized by the Health Information Resource Center (HIRC), a national clearinghouse for professionals who work in consumer health fields. Other well-known HIRC programs include the National Health Information Awards which annually recognizes the nation's best consumer health programs and materials (for non-digital resources), and two national "Fitness Day" events: The National Women's Health & Fitness Day® and the Family Health & Fitness Day USA®.
May 2011—State and National Curriculum Standards Reviewed
Each Project Heart lesson plan and activity was created based on Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS). After reviewing current TEKS guidelines, we revised the list of TEKS sections addressed by each lesson. Refer to the new TEKS Matrix for details on all grade levels.
Lessons are now also aligned for the National Health Education Standards (NHES). Refer to the new NHES Matrix for details.
Review the Instructional Guide for details about the Project Heart curriculum.
